Update – Dec.18th – Globalive has been given the go ahead by Industry Canada to launch – read here.
A couple of weeks ago I profiled Public Mobile, the first of 3 new cell companies entering the Canadian marketplace. We have two more companies to profile, Wind Mobile being the next.
After spending $442 million on spectrum in the Canadian wireless auction, Globalive is poised to provide an exceptional customer experience at discount store prices by partnering up with Wind Mobile. They hired Alcatel-Lucent to create the 3G network required to launch the Windmobile products across Canada.
It’s certainly a different breeze coming from the folks at Globalive and Wind – they actually want your input on the type of network to build. Their website has a section that actually asks for your input, but even before the partnership with Wind Mobile was announced the pair of companies were asking for advice and opinions on Wireless soapbox. By partnering with Wind Mobile, the Globalive team continues to demonstrate their commitment to innovation.
Globablive and Wind Mobile bring a concept to Canadian consumers – working together to provide an exceptional customer experience. In his book The Big Moo, Seth Godin describes the process that Globalive is beginning. Godin explains it as the secret to success:
1 – Ask your customers what they want.
2 – Give it to them.
3 – Ask them if they liked it.
4 – If they answer yes, do it again.
Globalive has asked Canadians what they want, and is now in the process of finding a way to provide it.
With over ten years of experience in the telecommunications field, Globalive is well suited to meet the challenge of upsetting the Big Three – Telus, Rogers, and Bell. Led by Anthony Lacavera (ranked repeatedly in the Globe & Mail’s top 40 under 40) (pictured) has developed an impressive culture within the Globalive corporation through transparency, community involvement, and overwhelming philanthropy.
A commitment to hiring people who are actually interested in customer service, a quality product at a value price, and a corporate philosophy . Hmm … maybe Bell, Telus, and Rogers should take a page out of their competitors playbook !
More: You can read about the other two new cellular companies coming to Canada. TheTelecomBlog.com has profiled:

I also wrote a post in October titled: 3 new cell companies coming to Canada. My guess – 2 are doomed. Public Mobile, Wind Mobile, or Dave Wireless ?

this is good, we in canada need more different mobile companies.. in canada is way behind island cities like hong kong.. i.e. you can pick up an pay as you go sim at 7-11 for under $7 CAD , and call for hours from hong kong to canada….
About time we have some real competition, maybe we won’t be paying these stupidly high cell rates much longer…….love it
Huh there is really useless opening new cellphone providers. its not going to change in prices at all. What is really needed is better data plans for Canada instead of robbing us 90 dollars for 8 gb while the frig-gen USA GETS unlimited everything and data plan top it off for only 45 dollars US!!!
