Motorola Devour Coming to Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless has announced that the much awaited Motorola Devour smartphone would be available to its customers in March, 2010.

The Motorola Devour will be the first Verizon Wireless phone to run on the MOTOBLUR interface. The Devour specs look impressive – 3.1″ Capacitive Touchscreen, QWERTY thumbboard, 8 GB MicroSD Card, 3.5 mm Audio Jack and a Touch Sensitive Navigation Pad. Motorola claims that the Devour will have a talk time of up to 6 hours. It has a 3 MP geo-tagging enabled camera which can synchronize images with DLNA devices. As for the Operating System, Devour will run on Android 1.6. It’s a bit surprising as the popular Motorola Droid is running on a higher version – Android 2.0. There’s no official word on the Motorola Devour pricing yet.

MOTOBLUR marks Motorola’s big time foray into social media and provides an easy and effective way to sync contacts from work and personal email services. The Devour is clearly a ‘Social Media Friendly’ phone and has in-built apps for Gmail, Google Maps, Gtalk, Google Search and YouTube. It also has a Adobe Flash Lite 3 Plugin for the Android browser and automatically streams YouTube videos without requiring a separate application for streaming. The Messaging, Happenings and Status widgets turn the Devour screen into a fantastic social media desktop and is a dream come true for a social media addicts.

However, if you are a gaming addict and high on 3D games, Motorola Droid is a much better proposition. However, if you’ve been waiting for a good upgrade option to your Motorola Cliq or any other old Motorola phone, the Motorola Devour is a great option.
