Rogers - One Rate Roaming Plans

Rogers - One Rate Roaming Plans

Last week, Rogers announced new roaming plans for people who travel often to the United States. Known as ‘One Rate’, these plans offer low data usage rates for subscribers when they are on roaming networks in USA. The name seems hardly apt when Rogers does NOT stick to ‘One’ Rate for any of its plans.

As per Rogers, these plans are a great option for frequent travelers between US and Canada as they completely eliminate long distance charges. All calls from your Rogers Wireless phone to Canada/ US are treated as local calls and you can also avail the benefits of special evening/ weekend calling options.

Rogers mentions the following benefits of the ‘One Rate’ plans for business travelers

Your business benefits:
Pay a local rate for long distance calls
Greatly reduces and simplifies your long distance calling expenses while traveling
Eliminates the need to use hotel phones thereby avoiding hotel communications charges

You can choose from the following ‘One Rate’ plans based on your needs and budget.

$20 per month: Personal Email on BlackBerry (Canadian and U.S.)
$35 per month: Consumer or Small business BlackBerry (BIS) 500MB Canadian and U.S.
$35 per month: Consumer or Small business 500MB Canadian and U.S. Data Plan
$40 per month: Consumer or Small business BB (BIS) 1GB Canadian and U.S. Plan
$40 per month: Consumer or Small business 1GB Canadian and U.S. Data Plan
$45 per month: 500MB Canadian and U.S. Mobile Internet Flex Rate Plan
$50 per month: DAP (for MSD customers) 1.5GB Canadian and U.S. Data Plan
$55 per month: Corporate BlackBerry (BES) 1GB Canadian and U.S. Plan
$55 per month: Corporate BB (BES) 500 MB Canadian and U.S. Flex Rate Plan

Apart from these, there’s a $50 One Rate Value Pack for Blackberry, iPhone, Android and Windows Mobile smartphone users which provides 500 MB data plus enhanced email & unlimited text (Only in Canada).

Whether these plans are free of the hidden fee hikes every year, your guess is as good as mine :)
