T-Mobile speeds up 3G

by Guest on November 12, 2009

D737~Speed-Racer-Go-Speed-PostersT-Mobile announced yesterday that they are upgrading their 3G service to a respectable 7.5 mb/sec, using High Speed Packet Access (HSPA).  The 4th ranked carrier currently covers almost 170 million people, with a goal to reach over 200 million by the end of the year.

According to androidandme.com, the devices that will be able to fully utilize these new speeds are:

  • G1
  • MyTouch 3G
  • Cliq
  • Behold 2 (November 18, 2009)
  • Touch Pro 2 (Windows)
  • Dash 3G (Windows)
  • And even better news for T-Mobile customers, HSPA+ should be coming in 2010, with speeds up to 21megs available.  Not sure what it means when your smartphone is faster than your laptop connection!

The fine folks over at technobuffalo.com have shared a not-so-scientific video of three of the major carriers completing a real life test of each service.

T-mobile is ranked 4th by subscriber count, but #1 in customer satisfaction.  Are you getting the advertised speeds?
