Avaya Takes IP Telephony To The Next Level With Its 9504 And 9508 Digital, 9608 IP Deskphones

by Gaurav Kheterpal on February 15, 2011

Avaya, fondly regarded as the “Big Daddy of Enterprise Telephony”, has just added new feathers to its cap by announcing the launch of 9504 and 9508 Digital Deskphones. While the former is a value oriented solution for small and medium sized businesses, the latter promises to be indispensable business communication tool for executives and managers.

With Avaya discontinuing the 24xx series for Communication Manager and the 14xx series for IP Office and Communication Manager having a limited appeal, these modern age digital deskphones have been long due.

The Avaya One X style phones, 9608, 9611, 9621, 9641 are great looking IP sets, and the upcoming IP Office release 7, will make it possible to use the new 9508 and 9504 phones.

Let’s take a quick look at Avaya’s latest digital deskphone offerings.

Avaya 9504 Digital Deskphone

The 9504 set derives its gorgeous looks from the well-established Avaya 9600 Series IP Deskphones. With a consistent user interface and similar interface, this new deskphone is a perfect solution for businesses wanting to expand their IP Telephony communication network by adding new endpoints. The paperless set requires absolutely no learning curve and provides a good option to help reduce the TCO for your business. With built-in support for IP Office Release 7.0, the 9504 digital deskphone brings future technology to the present.

Avaya 9508 Digital Deskphone

Similar to its 9504 counterpart, the Avaya 9508 Digital Deskphone is a paperless IP phone with stunning looks. It offers 8 administrative features on 3 levels (total of 24 button positions), plus optional 12-button expansion module for a total of 96 feature keys or speed dial buttons with dual red-green LEDs to display status. It’s a full-duplex phone and provides additional caller related information is displayed with active appearances for easier call handling.

Both sets are lightweight (2-2.2 lbs)  and continue Avaya’s long standing tradition of building ergonomically optimal deskphones.

With Avaya’s January 2010 announcement that the IP office would be the product of choice, we at Digitcom expect the 9504 and 9508 Digital Deskphones to emerge as good endpoint alternatives.
