WIND Mobile Launches Pay Your Way Service for Prepaid Users

by Gaurav Kheterpal on July 26, 2011

WIND Mobile last week introduced a new prepaid service – ‘Pay Your Way’ that lets consumers take full control of their wireless spending. This newly launched service charges a flat rate of $0.25 per minute anywhere in Canada and the U.S. and offers several free services that include incoming texts, Facebook, caller ID, missed call alerts and CBC News and weather updates.

WIND Mobile claims that Pay Your Way offers the lowest market calling rates to US and Canada. The carrier was boosted by strong Q1 results and staked its claim to be ‘Canada’s first growing carrier’. Back then, Anthony Lacavera, Chairman of Globalive Communications and WIND Mobile claimed that “Canadians are tired of paying sky-high prices and want a real wireless alternative”.

The ‘Pay Your Way’ service is another testimony to WIND Mobile’s aggressive approach to offer new customer-friendly pricing options.

“Pay Your Way provides Canadians with affordable service that responds to their individual needs.” said Scott Campbell, Chief Marketing Officer of WIND Mobile.

WIND Mobile says that ‘Pay Your Way’ is based on a simple principle – ‘You use, you pay. You don’t use, you don’t pay.’ This service can be used by customers who buy any phone from Wind Mobile and add cash to a Wind Mobile Pay Before account. Customers can top up their account as per the following slabs – $10-$19.99 (30 days), $20-$39.99 (60 days), $40-$99.99 (180 days), $100 or more (365 days).  The terms and conditions suggest that the minimum top up amount is $1-$1.99 and it provides a day’s validity.

Customers will be informed when their airtime or validity is nearing expiry. However, customers stand to lose their Pay Your Way phone number if they do not top-up their account within 30 days of initial activation or they have no service life for more than 90 consecutive days.

At the moment, the Pay Your Way service does not include a data plan. Therefore, customers who need data will need to get an add-on.

The Pay Your Way service is available for all phone offered by the carrier. Customers can switch to a monthly plan when they want.
