Telus Partners With Juniper For Mobile Security Management

Several analysts predicted that being a late mover in the LTE segment, Telus would face a distinct disadvantage as compared to Rogers and Bell. However, LTE or not, Telus remained unfazed by the competition and it posted impressive Q3 results with 30% profit.

Telus did exceptionally well in the wireless segment as revenues increased by $115 million or 9.0% to $1.4 billion in the third quarter, compared to the same period a year ago, thanks largely to increased subscriber penetration and higher average revenue per customer.

Telus maintains that foolproof mobile security is one of the key factors in its impressive wireless showing. To that effect, the carrier yesterday announced that it has selected Juniper NetworksJunos Pulse Mobile Security Suite, which delivers a comprehensive mobile device security and management offering.

People often bring personal cellphones to work and it’s difficult for enterprises to enforce policies prohibiting the use of personal mobile devices to access corporate networks. Unfortunately, such scenarios are looming security threats for enterprises often leading to malware attacks, loss of valuable confidential data, and may even create compliance or legal problems. Juniper, the big daddy of network security claims to address this problem with its Junos® Pulse Mobile Security Suite which delivers a comprehensive mobile device security and management offering.

As part of the deal, Telus will leverage Juniper’s offerings to provide robust mobile security services for enterprises and small businesses. Termed as the ‘Bring Your Own Device’ initiative, this program is device agnostic and supports multiple devices including Apple iPhones and iPads, Google Android, RIM Blackberry and broad range of other mobile devices. Telus says this initiative will help enterprises achieve a high level of employee flexibility and productivity while maintaining their data and network security.

Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite provides the following capabilities for enterprise users – remote configuration, provisioning and enforcement of access and security policies, on-device security enforcement, application inventory and management, advanced heuristic-based antimalware, device and data loss and theft protection (via remote device locate, track, wipe and lock).

TELUS maintains that threats to mobile devices and enterprises at an all-time high and customers need an easy to deploy, mobile security offering, and Juniper’s mobile security suite fits that bill perfectly.
