Rogers Signs Exclusive Canadian Partnership Agreement With Vodafone

Rogers has signed a new Partner Market agreement under which Canada’s No. 1 wireless player becomes Vodafone’s exclusive partner in Canada. The two companies are also exploring other business opportunities and will provide customers with a range of products and services such as 4G LTE roaming.

The deal strengthens the relationship between the two parties: Rogers CEO Guy Laurence headed Vodafone UK until he joined the Canadian telecom company. Laurence believes the partnership will bring great benefits for Rogers’ customers.

Vodafone Group Chief Executive Vittorio Colao said: “We are delighted that Rogers has joined our successful Partner Markets community. Canada is an important market as we continuously expand our roaming capabilities across North America.”

Rogers CEO Guy Laurence commented: “We’re focused on significantly improving our customers’ experience and believe that the knowledge and resources we will get from this alliance will be a big benefit to our customers.  We will draw on expertise and best practices from operators around the world to improve the products and services, like roaming and unified voice solutions, that we offer our consumer and business customers.”

According to a Vodafone spokesman, the agreement with Rogers goes beyond the deals it has with other Canadian carriers, AT&T in the US, and elsewhere in the world.

“With Rogers we’ll do more than just roaming,” said Simon Gordon, a Vodafone spokesman, in a phone interview. “For example, if we had a multinational customer that had offices in all around the world and a satellite office in Toronto, then we’d work jointly with Rogers to service that customer.”

Fact is, this will bring benefits for both parties: multinational customers of Vodafone Global Enterprise will benefit from the addition of Canada, and Rogers, on the other hand, will be able to use Vodafone’s expertise in building and developing 4G broadband networks.

Vodafone’s Partner Market group stretches across 50 countries and includes 30 telecom companies, not counting Vodafone’s own wholly or partly owned companies.
