Reimagining Enterprise In-App Communication: Avaya Delivers Cloud-Based App Services with Zang

Z-AnnouncementIf you ever thought developing an app for your business was too confusing, time-consuming, or expensive, business communications giant Avaya has delivered the first comprehensive cloud-based communications and applications-as-a-service platform that will allow anyone to create unique, communication-enabled applications.

To that end, Avaya pushed deeper into the cloud last week, spinning off some of its cloud-based communications applications and development tools into a standalone platform, Zang, which will operate as an independent subsidiary of Avaya.

At its core Zang is a revolutionary app-development service, designed to make it possible for developers to quickly create and deploy enterprise-grade, communications-enabled, user-specific applications and services.

But more than that, Zang is focused on collaborative communications solutions, boasting unrivalled “platform agnostic” interoperability that allows developers and end-users to use Zang’s apps and tools with other third-party communications services like Cisco Spark, Skype for Business, and Google Hangouts, as well as full “integration with other cloud infrastructure solutions like Salesforce, Google and Microsoft,” as Zang general manager Mo Nezarati explains.

“With 79% of IT teams currently developing apps for customers, partners and employees, 100% cloud-based Zang offers easy to use drag and drop tools, pre-built applications and robust APIs that make it possible for anyone to leverage the best of the web to quickly build and deploy applications that communications-enable consumer or enterprise applications and services,” according to Avaya’s press release.

As Gary Barnett, senior vice president and general manager of Avaya Engagement Solutions, said during the Zang release, while businesses have flooded the market with apps, they often lack basic communications functionality. In fact, he used the example of his own banking app, which he noted does not give him the option of actually calling or communication with the bank.

“Most applications are not communication-enabled,” he said. “Zang enables developers very quickly include communications within their applications.”

But Zang goes beyond simply offering click-to-call or SMS connection, with Barnett explaining that Avaya’s new subsidiary offers a wide-range of integrated communications services to meet any need.

“Anybody that wants to put communications into an application is going to do it differently,” Barnett said. “It’s very easy to put applications together that are specific to those needs.”

Simply put, Zang gives users a straightforward, cost-effective means to easily create business specific, communication-enabled apps or add digital communication into any app right out-of-the-box, and using a pay-as-you-go structure, companies won’t waste money. Zang is available now in the U.S. and while there is no solid release date for Canada, the company promised we will see it “definitely during 2016″.
